Conn. man sent to prison in drugs and fraud case AP Texas News Chron.com - Houston Chronicle: "Forty-six-year-old Anthony Spence of Bloomfield was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Hartford, after having pleaded guilty in December to drug distribution conspiracy and using counterfeit checks.
Federal prosecutors say Spence conspired to import large amounts of cocaine from Texas to Connecticut. Authorities say one shipment with more than 50 pounds of cocaine was seized in Baton Rouge, La., in 2007.
Authorities say Spence ripped off several retailers to finance the drug activities. They say the scheme involved paying for items with counterfeit checks, then selling them."
