Muslim MP’s son in fraud bid The Sun Home ScotlandScottish News: "son of Scotland's first Muslim MP returned to court yesterday to appeal against a conviction for money laundering.
Athif Sarwar, 32, got three years in May 2007 after being found guilty of using his family's wholesale firm to conceal £845,000 of VAT frauds.
But Sarwar, of Mearnskirk, Glasgow - freed in January 2008 pending his appeal - claims he was wrongly convicted as judge Lord Carloway made errors at the trial.
Sarwar's dad Mohammad, who quit as an MP at the last election, was at the appeal court yesterday for the start of the hearing, which continues."
